Is ebonics holding black people back from success??
okay,i know we all know someone who does it.ya know.........i ain't got no", 'what'choo be doin' down there," etc. i'm talking about ebonics. for alot of black people, talking this way is just as natural as breathing. have you ever wondered though,if this dialect we have is hindering us from being where we wonna be in life? let's face it,when white america hears us speaking that way they immediately think...uneducated black person, grew up in the ghetto, got 5 or 6 illegitimate children,on welfare,etc.. it's my opinion that blacks should be able to confidently speak this way without fear of what white america will have to say.as long as other races of people can understand us,who cares if it's not pronounced exactly as webster says it should be pronounced.this is when you're with friends and family hanging out and having a good time, what about in the work place though? do you feel that it is okay tospeak this way in front of potential emplyers?if you have, did you get the job? do tell.
