Spiritually speaking, isn't "ual preference" kind of a stupid expression?

I agree with you. "Prefer" means you like one better than the other, but in the case of uality, there's always one you don't like at all! There is no "preferring" in matters of uality. It's one or the other, no gray areas. (Except with s of course).
